Indian Navy's Stealth Frigate Participates in Global Maritime Operations and Training

Indian multi-role stealth frigate INS Shivalik, currently on a mission deployment in the South China Sea and North Pacific Ocean, has reached Pearl Harbour in Hawaii to participate in the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise, the world’s largest naval exercise.

The harbour phase of RIMPAC-24 will feature various symposiums, exercise planning discussions, sports competitions, and reciprocal deck visits. This phase sets the stage for extensive interaction and cooperation among the participating navies.

The sea phase of RIMPAC-24, divided into three sub-phases, will see ships engaging in both basic and advanced level integration exercises. The exercise will culminate in a theatre-level large force tactical exercise, showcasing high-level strategic coordination.

RIMPAC-24 will witness the participation of an Aircraft Carrier Battle Group, submarines, maritime reconnaissance aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, remotely piloted surface ships, and amphibious force landing operations, including joint operations with special forces from multinational navies. This extensive lineup highlights the comprehensive scope of the exercise.

Spanning over six weeks of intense operations and training, RIMPAC-24 aims to enhance interoperability and build trust among the navies of friendly countries. Led by the US Navy, approximately 29 countries are participating in this edition of the multi-dimensional exercise.

RIMPAC-24 provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among participants. This collaboration is critical for ensuring the safety of sea lanes and the security of the world’s oceans.
