Chief Secretary Radha Raturi Directs Officials to Ensure Flawless Arrangements, PM's Visit to Boost Winter Tourism in Uttarakhand

Dehradun, February 13: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is expected to visit Harshil-Mukhwa in Uttarkashi district on February 27 as part of his winter visit. In anticipation of this high-profile visit, the Uttarakhand government and administration have ramped up preparations to ensure that all necessary arrangements are in place.
Chief Secretary Smt. Radha Raturi held a high-level meeting with officials to review the progress and directed all concerned departments to complete their preparations on time. She emphasized that flawless execution and adherence to security protocols are paramount.
Boost to Winter Tourism in Uttarakhand
The Chief Secretary highlighted that the Prime Minister’s visit will be a significant opportunity to promote winter tourism in Uttarakhand. She instructed the Tourism Department to organize an exhibition showcasing Uttarakhand’s winter tourist destinations in Harshil, alongside an exhibition featuring local products of the state.
To ensure that the visit runs smoothly, Smt. Raturi will personally visit Harshil-Mukhwa to inspect the preparations on the ground. She also directed officials to make proper arrangements for the Prime Minister’s public meeting, including his darshan and puja at the Mukhwa temple.
Infrastructure and Security Arrangements in Place
District Magistrate of Uttarkashi, Dr. Meherban Singh Bisht, provided updates on the ongoing preparations in the region:
- Horticulture Department premises in Harshil have been leveled for the Prime Minister’s program.
- Beautification of the Mukhwa temple and village buildings is underway.
- Safe and convenient access paths to the temple have been constructed.
- Harshil-Mukhwa roads are being repaired, and the road leading to Bagori helipad in Harshil is in its final stages.
- Additional helipads in the area are being enhanced for operational readiness.
- Parking spaces have been developed in Harshil, Mukhwa, and along the Gangotri Highway.
- To address the issue of frozen drinking water lines during winter, a 5 km long road has been built, and HDPE pipes (100-200 meters in length) have been laid for an uninterrupted water supply.
- Electricity infrastructure upgrades, including replacement of poles and installation of solar high mast lights and streetlights, have been carried out.
- Three new smart toilets are being constructed.
High-Level Oversight and Coordination
During the high-level review meeting, Secretary Shri Vinod Kumar Suman gave a presentation on expected arrangements and stressed the need for all departments to complete their preparations without delay.
The meeting saw the participation of Director General of Police Shri Deepam Seth, Principal Secretary Shri R.K. Sudhanshu, Secretary Shri Shailesh Bagauli, along with officials from the Secretariat, Police Department, and District Administration.
With preparations in their final stages, the Uttarakhand government aims to ensure a seamless visit for the Prime Minister while leveraging this opportunity to showcase the state’s winter tourism potential to the world.
